Staffgate’s comprehensive approach to employee well-being
In today’s fast-paced and demanding work environment, prioritizing employee well-being is essential to creating a positive and productive workforce. In this post, we’ll dive deeper into Staffgate’s holistic approach to promoting the health and well-being of its employees.
A special part of our work team are foreign employees who especially need comprehensive support and assistance. At first, foreign workers often have difficulties when communicating at work, when visiting stores, pharmacies, and when filling out their documents. That is why care and comprehensive support are so important for them. Staffgate helps foreigners integrate into the working and social life of Finland as smoothly and quickly as possible, and the main indicators of employee adaptation are their balanced relationships with people around them, harmonious behavior, and successful work activities.
1. Organization of comfortable accommodation
Without proper rest, it is impossible to work efficiently. Mental and physical stress invariably leads to professional burnout and health problems. To avoid this, every employee needs regular respite, daily rest. So that the employee can effectively recuperate after work, we will take care of organizing a calm and comfortable accommodation for our employees. Accommodation for nonresident (foreign) employees is arranged in 1–2 rooms apartments, 1 person per room. The apartments are equipped with all necessary furniture and household appliances. Bedding, dishes, clothes washing are provided, and almost all houses have a sauna.
To ensure that an employee does not spend a lot of time traveling from home to work and back, we, if possible, select an apartment in close to the workplace, in areas with developed infrastructure, with convenient transport links.
2. Support work-life balance
Overwork is harmful to a person, because as a result it leads to burnout and reduces productivity. Therefore, it is important for each employee to develop a daily routine that balances periods of intense work and rest. Staffgate is committed to promoting work-life balance among its employees. We encourage having hobbies, maintaining a healthy lifestyle, and playing sports in your free time. The best restorative effect is provided by active forms of rest, rather than passive ones.
In our workplaces we have flexible work schedules, which we try to make suitable for the biorhythms of our employees. We support employees’ desire to stay in touch with their families and provide, if necessary, short-term vacation so that the employee can go home and visit his family.
Our Human Resources staff are available to provide tips and resources for maintaining a healthy work-life balance, including stress management techniques and time management strategies.
3. Information and support about mental health
We understand the importance of a person’s mental health and therefore we have created and strive to maintain a positive and friendly work environment for employees.
We want our employees to understand the importance of sustainable mental health. We encourage open, friendly communication between employees and company’s management, promoting a culture of compassion, understanding and support.
4. Special care about foreign employees
Many foreign workers, when they are arriving for working to Finland from another country, have unrealistic expectations and a few information about recruitment procedures, employment, living conditions, labor laws, workers’ rights and responsibilities. Lack of information puts these workers in vulnerable and risky economic and social situations, and may cause uninformed, erroneous decisions to be made.
We help raise awareness among foreign employees on issues related to labor migration and recruitment. Our advice can help an employee navigate a foreign country for the first time and points out things that the employee should think about and what should be studied.
We provide practical assistance in completing an application for a residence permit, help to apply for and receive a Tax card from the Finnish Tax Administration, open a bank account, and register in the Magistrate.
We provide regular advice on work, accommodation, organizing leisure time, and integration into Finnish society. We answer questions, consult, explain and give advice. We do not leave our employees alone in a foreign country!
If the employee wishes, we assist foreign employees in learning Finnish and English (in the workplace, in language courses).
We view employee growth and development as a key aspect of overall well-being. We provide opportunities for employees to improve skill level, acquire knowledge, new skills and abilities, and remain relevant in their roles. We encourage career growth within the company and together be glad in the success of our employees.
At Staffgate, we understand that the well-being of our employees is the cornerstone of a thriving and successful company. By taking a holistic approach to the health and well-being of our employees, providing personalized support to expatriate workers, we strive to create a work environment where all employees feel needed, valued and ready to thrive and improve their skills.
